Last week my friend Shannon Hansen and I got together to go to the Musee L'Orangerie in the Tuileries and see some Monet paintings, but when we got there it was closed due to some problems with electricity and they couldn't open until later. So instead we walked over to Les Invalides. Les Invalides is a large compound that houses a military museum, veteran's hospital and retirement place, a chapel and the tombs of some war heroes - most notably Napoleon Bonaparte. Here is a pic of the inside of the courtyard with the chapel dome.
And more pics...
Cute little Thomas came with us and was so good!
When we were finished we walked over to Rue Cler and looked at the beautiful flowers and produce and then ate lunch at a truly American burger joint...I mean, Dr. Pepper and fully cooked meat it not easy to come by here!
So for church we are put in charge of people or families to look after and Jeremy's families seem to be all over Paris. We visited a lovely lady for the first time this last week and discovered she lived right across from Moulin Rouge....don't you love Jeremy's face at being so close to the Moulin Rouge???
Lucky for us, another lady that he visits lives close to this....
Note all the locks on the bridge? This isn't the original lock bridge but is a good second!
Jeremy and I took a look at the elementary school lunch menu that was still on the board from July and found it so interesting that they serve just regular adult food to little kids. In America it is chicken nuggets and pizza, but in France it is fish with basil sauce, camembert cheese (a little stinky), lamb curry and roasted turkey with sauce.
The other night we had to grab something for the weekend at Jeremy's work and decided to make a little evening of it. This is the view from his work and we got dinner and just sat there and watched as the thousands of people walked by...and this was a slow evening! Most of the Americans have left since school has started but it is like a little International convention on the sidewalks of the Champs Elysees!
