Jeremy and I were lucky enough to spend the day with two of his work colleagues - Jill and Carlos, while they were here working in the Paris office. We took them to Fontainebleau which is about 45 minutes from Paris. Of course, we were french-fried on the way there and ended up literally jumping off a train second before it left a station because of an announcement they made only to realize after it left that we should have stayed on....such is life! It was actually a pretty nice day, even though it was January. This time we went inside the Chateau, which did not disappoint. Oh, this was "Napoleon's Castle."
This sign cracked me up...what exactly is serious game? Zebras? Lions? Monopoly? I think something got a little lost in translation!
Understated I'd say...
The Chapel in the Chateau
This is where I would have been placed at any big ball - the entertainment in the loft!
A better view of the loft..
Tiny chairs...maybe Napoleon's..he was small, right?
The throne room
And our favorite part - the grounds
Carlos, Jill and cute husband
We finished the day eating at a little Italian restaurant, which was surprisingly good and the train ride back was very uneventful...thankfully! It was nice to make new friends!
