Les Jardins de Bagatelle

Today I found a hidden treasure only a few minutes from my house.  Jeremy and I live about one block from a huge park (probably a little bigger than Central Park in NYC) and have yet to discover very much of it.  I wanted to go for a walk/jog today and took a different road and came upon this garden that might be my favorite place in Paris, it even rivals Luxembourg Gardens. I am glad I found this today since I am leaving for the states on Monday. I seem to get a little "trunkie" when I know I am headed home and find the last few days in Paris very long.  I was probably there for 2 hours just exploring.  Here are some pics:

Gazebos everywhere!

There were tons of peacocks but every time I would try to take a picture of one, especially with their feathers up, they would turn their backs to me so I couldn't get a good shot...rude!

They also had these sculptures everywhere which I actually sort of liked, even though I don't usually love modern art.

It was an overcast day but was still quite nice outside, didn't feel dreary.

This is my dream veggie garden, I am going to hire someone when I'm rich and famous someday to construct one for me.  There is also a restaurant next to this park and  they use the gardens for their food...I can't wait to go one day!

More veggie garden...

They even grow lettuce on the sides of the garden

Bamboo is in some areas of the garden....native, I'm sure

When I finally move back to the US I will truly miss all of the box hedge borders on everything

Little birds nest, I think a gardener found it and put it on the ground

I can't wait when everything is actually in bloom...in just a few weeks!

Another cute pavillion..in Utah there would be one million couples getting their engagement shots done here

This one was not as smart, I got the front but he did quickly put down his feathers

This is a big hill with a winding path to the top

Daffodils and tulips are everywhere on the grounds

There is waterfalls and ponds all throughout the park.

The one weird thing about the park was that there was a pack of cats by one side that stared at me like I was going to be their next meal...I mean, really gave me the evil eyes...I walked very quickly through that part, I'm talking probably 25 cats...yikes~!

The peacock game...

The Chateau de Bagatelle

Victory...I think I only got this one because another peacock was near and its feathers were up and shaking, some mating call or staking claim on territory...I should have paid more attention in science class to know the difference.

The other peacock

Pink popcorn popping right before my eyes

Most adorable restaurant every...hint, hint Jeremy....

This is seriously a hidden gem of a park!!!!!  Bon soir!

  1. I LOVE this park. Not that I've ever been there. :) But your pictures! I love it. All the tulips, waterfalls, peacocks, and trees. Really pretty. Glad you found it and can now go back to explore your happy place. :)
